Free Menopause Health and Wellbeing Sessions

World Menopause Day
takes place on Monday 18th October 2021 and sees events held internationally throughout the rest of the month to raise awareness around this transitional stage for women. To mark this occassion, three different sets of health and wellbeing sessions are taking place in West Yorkshire and our neighbouring Integrated Care Systems (ICSs).

All sessions are free to attend and are open to anyone working and/or volunteering in health and social care across West Yorkshire.

1) Various Halsa Menopause focussed health and wellbeing sessions

2) Menopause focused awareness session aimed at partners, family members and colleagues wishing to support somoene going through the menopause

3) Menopause focussed discussion session with Kaye Adams (TV presenter, journalist and author) and Dr Shahzadi Harper – “Let’s all tlk about the menopause”.

We Are All Leaders Now – Spectrum Festival of Leadership and Learning

Registration is now open for the fifth event in Spectrum’s Festival of Leadership & Learning, a series of inspiring, engaging and thought provoking education events led by various forward-thinking advocates, practitioners of change and lived experience voices.

This event, titled We Are All Leaders Now, will be led by Rob Webster CBE, Lead Chief Executive – West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership (ICS).

14:30 – 15:30

Rob will focus on the work we need to do to ensure people receive more joined up and integrated care in a post pandemic world where health inequalities are starker than ever. This poses challenges for us as leaders in our organisations and in our systems.

This session will set out practical measures by which leaders can become more effective at all levels using real life examples and personal experiences alongside academic studies. Rob will make the case of how we all need to be system leaders now.

‘Connected on Inclusion’ week of events

The West Yorkshire and harrogate Race Equality Network are hosting a series of events between the 4th and 8th of October 2021 around the theme of ‘Connected on Inclusion’.

Launching on Monday 4 of October 2021, the network is hosting various events that seek to connect us further on inclusion and celebrate the huge achievements in race equality made across West Yorkshire and Harrogate.

Sessions planned throughout the week will be led by keynote speakers and guests including Rob Webster CBE, Chief Executive of the WY&H Health and Care Partnership, and Michael West CBE, King’s Fund and Professor at Lancaster University.

Other guests also include Cllr Shabir Pandor, Leader of Kirklees Council; Dr Habib Naqvi Director, NHS Race and Health Observatory; Jenni Douglas-Todd, Director of Equality and Inclusion at NHS England and Nadine Pemberton all the way from St Lucia. As a previous Executive Director of Legal for Social Work England and current consultant coach and mentor, Nadine will be sharing her brave leadership journey.

Allied Healthcare Professionals Day Celebrations

Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHP) Day 2021 is fast approaching and the West Yorkshire and Harrogate AHP Faculty are promoting a series of events to celebrate.

On Thursday 14th October, the AHP faculty would like to take the opportunity to come together, share a virtual breakfast, hear about some of the work completed in the AHP Faculty and look at how we can support each other going forward.

The Faculty will also be promoting some national events and on Saturday 9th October there is an opportunity for individuals to come together and get moving at their local park run – more information to follow.

Thanks to the efforts of our colleagues across the regions, we have welcomed over 13,000 new HCSWs to the NHS since January 2021, over half of which are new to healthcare. Our focus must now turn to the retention of this valuable workforce, to ensure that they are supported, developed and empowered to thrive in their roles.

NHS England and NHS Improvement’s Healthcare Support Worker retention workstream are delivering a series of 6 interactive “Retention Learning Labs”, to share learning, practice and innovation as well as an opportunity to consider the latest data and evidence on HCSW retention.

Connecting Communities Engagement Workshop

Calling all Health, Social care and voluntary sector workforce!


West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership are seeking to develop a network to support resilience and growth of our health and care colleagues and volunteers.

We are holding an engagement workshop on 4th March 2021 from 9:30am-12pm, inviting colleagues from across West Yorkshire and Harrogate to help us create a network informed by your experiences, challenges and passion for personalised care. The network will provide a platform to share good practice, discuss the challenges and coproduce solutions to support a powerful social movement for change.  Help us further shape the benefits and desired outcomes, but also what the network will look like and how it will function.

Trainee Nurse Associate Webinars

Due to the increased interest in the Trainee Nursing Associate role and its inclusion in the Primary Care Networks Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme, 2 identical webinars are due to be run in November.

These webinars will include an overview of the TNA/NA role, entry requirements, details on funding available to support employers and information around future cohorts across Yorkshire and the North East.

Expressions of interest are now being accepted for the Rotational Trainee Nursing Associate Apprenticeship Course June 2021 cohort.
